L’objectif de la "guerre contre le terrorisme" est de maintenir pour les USA et leurs clients ("l’Occident") un accès privilégié aux ressources énergétiques (pétrole en premier lieu mais aussi le gaz), par le contrôle des sources de production. C’est un instrument de bien-être de ses populations, mais surtout un instrument de puissance pour ses élites : "a stupendous source of strategic power, and one of the greatest material prizes in world history".

L’Occident est un prédateur ... et seule une profonde hypocrisie lui permet d’appeler guerre un terrorisme cette prédation abjecte. Cette hypocrisie est partagée en partie par une population qui refuse de regarder en face les sources de sa richesse et l’attribue à sa "supériorité", au lieu d’accepter de vivre de ses ressources propres et d’échange commerciaux équitables.
